About the First-Year Program

DC
The First-Year Program, part of the Liberal Studies Program's Common Core, consists of four components:
  1. Chicago Quarter:  Upon entering DePaul, first-year students are required to enroll in either Discover Chicago or Explore Chicago.
  2. Focal Point Seminar:  Students may choose to take this class in either winter or spring quarter.
  3. Quantitative Reasoning (QR)
  4. First-Year Writing
The first two components are administered by the Office of the First-Year Program.  The latter two are administered by separate offices that each have their own websites (linked above).
