Freshman Honors Admission Criteria
We practice a holistic admission strategy, carefully examining each student's entire application and high school record for the qualities and achievements that indicate a good fit for the Honors Program.
While we do consider GPA, class rank, submitted test scores, and writing samples, the most important quality in a DePaul Honors student is a demonstrated passion for learning and a proven commitment to community involvement.
Honors classes are taught as in-person seminars, most of which take place on the Lincoln Park campus; thus, students who are in fully online degree programs are not eligible to participate in the Honors Program.

Application Deadlines for Freshmen Starting in Fall 2024:
February 1 – Priority deadline
March 25 - Final deadline
April 15 - Extended Final deadline*
June 1 – Final deadline for Music and Theatre students
As space in the Honors Program is limited, we encourage students to apply as soon as they are admitted to DePaul.
Students who submit their Honors application by the priority deadline will receive a decision letter within two weeks of applying. Students who submit their application by the final deadline will receive a decision letter by mid-April. Music and Theatre students who submit their application by June 1 will receive their decision letter by mid-June.
*Except in the case of Music and Theatre students, applications received after March 25 are only reviewed on a space-available basis.
